Lake Hodges Hiking

One of the best areas in San Diego for recreation is Lake Hodges.  The hiking and recreational opportunities are varied.  One of my favorite hiking areas is the bicycle/pedestrian bridge.  To access the bridge you need to exit West Bernardo Drive.  Parking is on the right side.  The Lake Hodges bicycle/pedestrian bridge is a ribbon stye bridge that was completed in 2009.  Lake Hodges is part of the San Dieguito River Park. This is a great hike for kids.  You can also walk your dog(s) as long as they are leashed.  There is a port-o-potty on the other side of the bridge.

This hike is a perfect combination of nature and urban site seeing since the freeway is close.  The fun part is when you go under the bridge.  There are many birds and places to explore.

For more information you can visit the San Diego river park website.
